AN EXTRACT OF THE FOUNDING OF IGBAJO AND ITS PEOPLE
Igbajo, as it implies, is “Agbajo Eniyan “ meaning “Assembly of people”. The town according to some records , cited by Ademola Fasiku was founded around 300 AD. In the book, “IGBAJO, CITADEL OF THE GRAVE”, Professor Tugbiyele claimed that Igbajo was first founded by one one Esidale who has its’s origin from the Oduduwa’s ancestry , reported to be the migrant to the present site of Igbajo from ile-ife, during the Oduduwa period . As an adventurer of the Oduduwa prince who failed to return to Ile-ife was declared missing by his father to Oduduwa. Hence , the saying : “Esi dale l’ o ni Igbajo “ . Esindale’s foot-prints were soon retraced to Igbajo through Ifa-Oracle . In addition , information has it that a group of ten princes ( the Orangun of Ila , the Oloyan of Oyan , the Alara of Aramoko, the Alaye of Efun Alaye , the Owa of Igbajo amongst others ), migrated to the present site of Igbajo .
